Borussia Dortmund – SpVgg Greuther Fürth (Wednesday, 8.30 p.m.)
Situation: After the defeat in the direct duel and the draw in Bochum, BVB is six points behind Bayern again. Fürth celebrated the redeeming first victory on Sunday, but is still twelve points behind the relegation place.
Personal: Dortmund will have to do without Akanji until the winter break. Guerreiro and Malen are questionable. Burchert replaces the long-injured radio in the Fürther Tor, and there is speculation about the ex-Mainz Karius as access.
Statistics: In Fürth’s only Bundesliga season 2012/13, BVB won the two games 3-1 and 6-1. In the cup there were two duels in Fürth this millennium, in which Dortmund prevailed in extra time.
Special: Fürth only missed a goal in two of eight away games, but is the only team that has not yet scored a point away from home. BVB lost 3-2 at home to Bayern, but had won all seven home games before that.
Bayer Leverkusen – TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (Wednesday, 8.30 p.m.)
Situation: It is a duel between third and fourth. But while Bayer came 0-1 in the Europa League in Budapest and 2-5 in Frankfurt, Hoffenheim recently celebrated four wins in a row. With another they would pass Bayer.
Personal: Frimpong is blocked at Bayer. Except for Baumgartlinger, all of the injured are back. Hoffenheim has to do without Geiger, Bicakcic, Bruun Larsen and John, Rutter and Stiller are questionable.
Statistics: In the first five guest appearances after promotion in 2008, Hoffenheim didn’t get a point in Leverkusen. The Werkself only won three of the last eight games at the BayArena. Including that in the previous year with 4: 1.
Special: After his double in Frankfurt, Leverkusen’s Schick leads the scorer list together with Bayern’s Lewandowski. He scored two goals less (14:16), but prepared two more (3: 1).
1. FC Union Berlin – SC Freiburg (Wednesday, 8.30 p.m.)
Situation: Both surprise teams want to win again. Union was last defeated at the bottom of Greuther Fürth. The Freiburg even lost four of the last five Bundesliga games.
Statistics: Union Berlin is a power at home. Only one of the last 24 Bundesliga home games was lost – this season 2: 5 against record champions FC Bayern. Freiburg, on the other hand, is still without a point game win at the Köpenickers.
Personal: Vice-captain Friedrich will still be missing in Berlin, otherwise all professionals are available to coach Fischer.
Special: Nico and Keven Schlotterbeck were once loaned to Berlin and are now returning with the Breisgauer. Unions Kruse, on the other hand, has a Freiburg past.
FC Augsburg – RB Leipzig (Wednesday, 8.30 p.m.)
Situation: For Augsburg, the 2-0 win in Cologne was a liberating success, although it is still tight. After three defeats, Leipzig’s 4-1 win against Mönchengladbach lifted the mood in Leipzig and gave the new coach Tedesco a perfect start.
Personal: After the yellow card suspension for FCA captain Gouweleeuw, either Winther or Gumny will play for him in central defense. The deployments of Klostermann and Haidara are questionable in Leipzig.
Statistics: The last four league duels all ended with a victory for Leipzig. Including the two DFB Cup duels, RB even won the youngest six games.
Special: Augsburg coach Weinzierl has never won a league game against RB. After leaving Schalke in the summer of 2017, he was replaced there by Tedesco.
