For the first time in his career, he was on the podium of a grand tour, as the number three of the Giro, a performance that evoked different feelings in him. “I am now disappointed, because we hand over the overall victory on the last day,” said Kelderman, and then dig a little deeper. “After finishing fourth in the Giro in 2017, I wondered if this would ever happen again.”
