Statement by the Ministry of National Education of the ‘headscarved student’

Here is the explanation;

During the graduation ceremony held in Anafartalar High School of our General Secondary Education Department in June, news that a student who wanted to attend the ceremony with a headscarf was expelled from the school and that the veil was forcibly removed by the teachers, appeared in the press last week.

First of all, it should be noted that no complaints have been made to any department or unit affiliated to our relevant department and/or ministry.

After the publications made in the press and our Ministry was informed on 22 August 2023, the issue was brought to the agenda of the National Education Supervision, Evaluation and Guidance Board, and two inspectors were assigned to investigate the matter immediately and reveal the truth.
Our inspectors examined the complaint letters received from the press and/or sent to us by the authority to which the complaint was received, and interviewed the school’s assistant principal and the student, whose names are under these letters, and applied for their written statements. Parallel to these meetings, our inspectors were again in charge of the school principal and the names mentioned in the articles.
By reaching the assistant principal and teachers, verbal and/or written information about what happened was obtained and evaluated.
