Vienna (OTS) – The Bundesheer comments on the current allegations on social media regarding the placement of the military personnel in Korneuburg:
The soldiers and civil servants of the support service in Hagenbrunn are currently housed in the Dabsch barracks.
Due to the short-term nature of the assignment, it was not possible to rent civilian accommodation. In order to accommodate the forces deployed, accommodation was quickly organized and set up for the soldiers: the Dabsch barracks were able to provide a hall and camp beds for the approximately 280 soldiers in the shortest possible time.
Alternative accommodations are currently being examined.
In order to ensure the necessary safety distance, the hall provided is divided into bunks with up to four maximum six people. In order to keep the contact frequency as low as possible, the division of people into the berths is the same as the division of labor in the distribution center.
The hall is heated, dry and weatherproof.
The forces deployed are currently still tied to the sanitary infrastructure of the Dabsch barracks, which will be expanded tomorrow with additional sanitary containers.
The prescribed safety measures are regularly pointed out, such as a request to wear a face mask, wash your hands and keep your distance.
Disinfection options are also available on site for soldiers and servants.
The water supply takes place via the delivery of water bottles (still and sparkling mineral water), which is available for free withdrawal at any time.
Due to the rapid readiness of the forces, cold meals for the soldiers could be ensured; From tomorrow, the contingent will be supplied by the field kitchen in the barracks, and a separate field kitchen team will also be deployed to ensure that the soldiers are supplied with hot food.
