The following statement was issued by the Foreign Ministers of the Group of Seven, namely Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States of America and the United Kingdom, and by the High Representative of the European Union .

We, the Foreign Ministers of the G7 (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America) and the EU High Representative, express our deep concern about the tensions that worsening in the Middle East, which risks igniting a wider conflict in the region. We again urge all parties concerned to desist from perpetuating the destructive cycle of violent retaliation, to reduce tensions and engage constructively in de-escalation. No nation or nation can benefit from further escalation in the Middle East.
