Faced with the situation of insecurity which reigns in the north of the country, a situation maintained by the Jihadists installed between the Benin-Burkina-Faso border, Rwanda promises military support to Benin.
The north of the country is besieged by jihadist militias from Burkina Faso. And in the face of the attacks regularly perpetrated in the region. President Talon had announced in 2022, to be in talks about military and logistical cooperation with Rwanda. In President Talon’s opinion, Rwanda has already proven itself and has had to send troops to the Central African Republic and Mozambique to fight insurgencies. “There will be no limits in everything that will be accomplished together to meet the security challenges that are imposed” reassured President Talon.
“We are ready to work with Benin to prevent anything that may happen in the area around its borders,” said President Kagame.
Le president Talon indicated that this cooperation would focus in particular on “supervision, coaching, trainingnand the “joint deployment” of troops.”We will go more if necessary
Lhe two nations are determined to go beyond thea cooperation military by opening up new sites. The formalization of these agreements and the relevance of the areas selected are symptomatic of the vitality and good health of relations between Benin and Rwanda.
