A total of 1,528 agents from the National Police and the Civil Guard reinforce citizen security in the province of Malaga during the campaign of Christmas through the Safe Trade Plan, which has been underway for two weeks. Specifically, 578 agents from the National Police Corps and 950 from the Civil Guard are deployed throughout the province, the Government Subdelegation reported yesterday. This is a reinforcement device that is implemented on the occasion of these dates in the cities and municipalities of the National Police demarcation: Antequera, Benalmádena, Estepona, Fuengirola, MálagaMarbella, RondaTorremolinos and Velez-Malaga and that also has the participation of the Civil Guard in all the municipalities under its jurisdiction and in the roads of the province.
The accidental subdelegate of the Government in Malaga, Juan Pedro Carnero, highlighted “the important role of the State Security Forces and Corps so that both the commercial sector and the people of Malaga and those who visit us have a safe Christmas.” Likewise, he stressed “the importance of follow the recommendations that the Ministry of the Interior “does to society to avoid being victims of criminal offenses.”
Carnero highlighted the importance of the Safe Trade plan in which, as happens in the summer season, “the Christmas season brings together a large number of people around shopping centers and cities with a great Christmas tourist offer.” In this way, 1528 members of the State Security Forces and Corps operate in the province of Malaga to ensure citizen safety and prevent crimes related to heritage, forgeries, pyrotechnic material, theft and drug trafficking, without forgetting the protection of agricultural operations to prevent theft. The accidental subdelegate of the Government recalled “the important effort that the Government has made in recent years to reinforce the staff of the State Security Forces and Bodies in Malaga, reaching a record staff of 5,748 agents of the National Police and the Civil Guard , 12.2% more than in 2017.
Through the Safe Trade Plan, the State Security Forces and Corps aim to improve security in public spaces in cities and towns in Malaga where commercial and recreational activities are carried out, maintaining public order, preventing incidents and crimes.
The measures of special intensity during this specific period will be aimed at the surveillance and protection of places, spaces and means of transport, religious, leisure or recreational events in general, with high concentration of peopleas well as the surveillance and protection of strategic objectives that are essential for the normal functioning of citizen activity.
The Civil Guard will also establish services to regulate circulation, monitor and ensure road safety on the different interurban roads, as well as in the accesses to municipalities due to the increase in travel that occurs on these dates.
