According to the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) of Baden-Württemberg, 25,388 arrest warrants were posted in the police information system as of July 1. That was almost twice as many as in 2021 (13,542). However, an LKA spokeswoman made it clear that a comparison of such snapshots is only partially meaningful.
“Arrest warrants are executed daily and the wanted notice for the person is then immediately deleted,” she explained to the German Press Agency in Stuttgart. “At the same time, new arrest warrants are issued and people are put out wanted notices.”
According to the information, 2,897 of the current cases involved the arrest of suspects. In 22,491 arrest warrants, penalties were to be enforced.
It should be noted that arrest warrants usually appear in the police system when the underlying crime is being investigated in Baden-Württemberg. The arrest warrants therefore do not necessarily only affect people who live or are staying in the southwest. There can also be several arrest warrants for one person.
