The Indonesian Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, has visited Pasar Senen Station in Jakarta ahead of the surge in passengers expected during the Eid al-Fitr exodus period. The visit was made to assess the station’s preparedness for an expected surge of 40 million passengers during the annual religious holiday season. Thohir encouraged state-owned railway firm PT Kereta Api Indonesia to increase its capacity and the number of daily departures to 53 destinations, while promotional programs are being launched to attract more passengers. Thohir also called on state-owned airlines, such as Garuda Indonesia subsidiary Citilink, to provide affordable tickets as an alternative form of transport for residents.
State-owned companies in railway and airline transport will provide alternatives for residents traveling for Eid al-Fitr, says Indonesia’s Minister of State-Owned Enterprises.
