As of July 27, the state has reported 28 deaths from Covid-19, placing Edomex among the five states with the highest incidence.
According to the General Directorate of Epidemiology and the area of Epidemiological Surveillance of respiratory diseases, until week 30, which includes July 21 to 27, 411 deaths from Covid-19 were reported nationwide, with Mexico City having the highest incidence with 15.3%, followed by Puebla with 8.3%, Jalisco with 6.8%, the State of Mexico with 5.8% and Hidalgo with 5.4%.
Meanwhile, the entities of residence with the highest number of COVID-19 cases are Mexico City with 25.0%, Nuevo León with 8.5%, Querétaro and State of Mexico with 8.0% which translate into 816 cases and Puebla with 4.1%
Edomex reports zero deaths from interseasonal influenza
In the 2024 interseasonal influenza season, the State of Mexico has recorded 56 cases, of which no deaths from the disease have been reported as of July 27.
The report by the Epidemiological Surveillance area of respiratory diseases also details that the main entities of residence with the highest notification of influenza cases are: Yucatan with 7.7%, Mexico City concentrates 7.5%, Guerrero 7.0%, Jalisco adds 6.3% and State of Mexico with 6.0%.
Other respiratory diseases
In the 2024 interseasonal season, 1,057 positive cases of retinal vein occlusion have been confirmed, mainly in Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Querétaro, Jalisco, and Veracruz.
The age group with the highest incidence of OVR is found in the ages of 1 to 4 years, 5 to 9 years and under 1 year.
Of the total number of positive cases for OVR, 44.2% correspond to enterovirus/rhinovirus, 28.2% to influenza, 9.7% to adenovirus, 4.6% to oral virus, and the rest to other viruses.
COVID-19 and influenza cases confirmed via laboratory
According to the Ministry of Health, confirmed cases of COVID-19 were confirmed by laboratory, using the RT-PCR technique, while influenza and OVR cases were confirmed by laboratory, using the RT-PCR technique.
