The tornado in the area toppled construction cranes and other heavy structures, trees, signs, buckets, satellite dishes.

Significant damage was also caused by the strong hail at dawn. Streets in the city are closed due to trees and other objects piled up on them.

Due to mud and landslides, some of the roads in the district are open only to vehicles with chains.

The Nicosia-Limasol highway is also affected. The police urged drivers to be especially careful.

Many areas in the Limassol and Nicosia areas were left without power due to downed power poles and many downed power lines from the overnight storm.

The Cyprus Electricity Company announced that teams have been working since early morning to restore the network and power supply, but this will take time as the situation is very dangerous.

The affected areas are being cleared and together with the Civil Protection, the safety of the residents is being ensured, the local authorities announced.

Until 5:00 p.m. today /from 10:00 p.m. last night/ the yellow code for storms announced by the Meteorological Service is in effect.
