State of emergency declared in New York State

New York State declared a state of emergency to contain the coronavirus on Saturday.

At a press conference in Albany, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced procedures for purchasing equipment and hiring healthcare personnel.

With 21 new cases for a total of 76, New York State is spending, according to the governor, nearly US $ 30 million per week to fight COVID-19.

The United States reports more than 400 confirmed cases of the coronavirus. At least 19 have been fatal.
