The State Department is preparing a plan in the event of a shutdown – a temporary suspension of the work of US federal authorities.
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller stated this at a briefing, European Pravda reports.
“We have been engaged in contingency planning for several days now in case of a shutdown. We continue to work to decide which functions are important for national security that cannot be suspended even in the event of a shutdown,” he said.
At the same time, a State Department spokesman hopes that Congress will “do its job and fund the government.”
Shutdown is a temporary complete or partial cessation of work and funding of government agencies in a situation where the President, Senate and House of Representatives cannot agree on a budget for the next fiscal year.
The day before, the Pentagon announced that a possible shutdown will also affect the training program for Ukrainian pilots and maintenance personnel on F-16 fighters.
In addition, it may affect on the volume of military assistance to Ukraine from the USA.
