State Department decided to fire 182 employees of American diplomatic missions in Russia

The ban on the employment of foreign employees at the US embassies and consulates in the Russian Federation resulted in the firing of 182 employees of US diplomatic missions in the country. This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

We are talking about local (Russian) employees of the US Embassy in Moscow, consulates general in Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok.

As Blinken noted, the forced layoff of personnel will negatively affect the work of American diplomatic missions, including the safety of employees and interaction with the Russian authorities.

Earlier, US Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan said that from August 1, 2021, the embassy will no longer be able to provide consular services to Russian citizens due to the introduction of a ban on the employment of Russian personnel in American diplomatic missions.
