State COVID-19 vaccination centers announced in Arizona – Telemundo Phoenix / Tucson

PHOENIX – Arizona state-run COVID-19 vaccination sites will begin to phase out “over the next several weeks,” according to the Arizona Department of Health Services, focusing instead on bringing more vaccines to local neighborhoods, pharmacies and doctors.

All state-run vaccination sites are expected to close on or before Monday, June 28, according to health authorities.

Saturday, June 5, will be the last day people can get their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine (state sites only have Pfizer) and the last day to schedule their second dose.

Here’s what you need to know to keep it in mind and what to do if you lose it.

Anyone who receives their first dose after June 5 will receive information to receive their second dose elsewhere.

State vaccination sites are currently operating in the Glendale Gila River area, ASU’s Desert Financial Arena in Tempe, the Dexcom warehouse in Mesa, WestWorld of Scottsdale, the University of Arizona in Tucson, the Yuma Civic Center in Yuma and Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.

Health authorities in the United States are investigating whether the reported cases could be a side effect of COVID-19 vaccines. To see more from Telemundo, visit https://www.nbc.com/networks/telemundo

Those 12 and older are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine at one of the state’s sites.

To date, more than 3.3 million people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Arizona, of which 2.8 million are considered fully vaccinated, according to authorities.

What are your COVID-19 vaccine options?

The phasing out of state-run centers doesn’t mean vaccines are over. The focus is now shifting to more options in pharmacies, doctor’s offices, and clinics.

As more teens go on vacation during the summer, the CDC urges they get vaccinated. The agency will release a new report on minors and coronavirus, which includes data on adolescent hospitalizations. 1 in 3 children has been hospitalized with the virus and it is expected to increase.

Although the government indicated that it is not necessary for people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to wear a mask, not everyone is comfortable not wearing them.
