Düsseldorf / Krefeld. After the regatta for the U15 rowers a good two weeks ago, the NRW youngsters met on the Elfrather See in Krefeld for the state competition. The mixed double scull (13/14 years) from the Germania Düsseldorf rowing club won silver, while another only just missed bronze. Together in the mixed double fours there was bronze.
Titus Prante and Antonia Meyer were able to confidently qualify for the final with first place in the preliminary with the fastest time of all mixed doubles (13/14) and only had to admit defeat to the winner of the other preliminary, the team from RV Münster. Luqiao Zou and Carla Bültmann also fought their way to the final and missed bronze with just three tenths of a second. “Both drove very well”, praised RC trainer Jan Milles and, together with all four and helmsman Jakob Eichmann, was happy about the bronze in the mixed double fours (13/14) in the strong field behind the boats from Krefeld and Essen. “We are absolutely satisfied!” There was also a photo finish, this time with the better end for the Germanic peoples – only two tenths of a second ahead of the team from Witten.
And another photo finish. Ole Roppers and Annabel Sobl also made it exciting. They finished in mixed double sculls (12/13) in their second regatta ever and after only one training session, fourth with two tenths of a second behind the team from Oberhausen.
Jakob Eichmann unfortunately had no luck after two victories at the Krefeld regatta this weekend and missed the final in third place in the lightweight seine (14) after he had fought his way through the race so nicely after a technical rowing problem. In the B-final it was just a question of who was pulling his boat over the line in advance and who had the bow tip in front. He finished second here after a gust of wind hit him earlier.
Frederik Blei, Max Wurmbach, Ole Roppers, Noah Hirschfeld and helmsman Simon Busch struggled with the extremely difficult wind conditions at the start and unfortunately did not get into the race optimally. Fourth place wasn’t enough for the final.
For Julian Mohr it was the first regatta season and would normally start in a single (12) in performance class III. In the B final, he was able to get fifth place ahead of the rowers from Dortmund. Joshua Dreher-Curkovic, also a newcomer, left the rowers from Krefeld behind in the B final of the single (14) of six opponents. I am completely satisfied, ”said Jan Milles.
