Success in national project.
(BZ). The district senior center St. Maximilian Kolbe in Kenzingen has received the organic certification for the production and labeling of organic products, reports the Emmendingen district office.
Increasing the proportion of organic and organic-regional products in catering, reducing food waste, establishing and expanding regional production structures for food – these are just three of several goals that need to be achieved in order to be successful in the “Organic in der Community catering in the organic model regions” of the State Ministry for Rural Areas to receive certification. The district senior center St. Maximilian Kolbe in Kenzingen, a company owned by the district of Emmendingen with 140 nursing staff, has now received the certification, to the delight of home manager Achim Ettwein: “Of course, we have always made sure that we offer our residents sustainable and good food. In addition It also means that it is of organic quality. Since there are fortunately enough offers in our region, it was clear that we would try to obtain this certification. We are happy that this has now worked out.”
A total of six organic model regions in Baden-Württemberg can take part in the project. The organic model region of Freiburg is one of them. In addition to the city of Freiburg and the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, it also includes the district of Emmendingen. In the state’s “Organic in community catering” project, the organic model regions are important multipliers in the plan to promote organic catering in the state and to increase the demand for more regional organic food. Both the local food industry and the environment can benefit from this, according to the district office.
