Wednesday, April 19 43 people were prevented from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total of 1,737 people this year.
This year, 125 people were admitted for humanitarian reasons.
On the external borders and inside the country in the past 24 hours, State Border Guard officials found 52 offenders.
On the outer borders 40 border violators were found, including:
- One foreigner was found with forged documents
At the Silene border control point, one Ukrainian citizen was found to have presented a fake Ukrainian driver’s license to the border guards. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. As part of the criminal process, the forged document was removed.
- Entry to Latvia was denied to 22 foreigners
One citizen of Tajikistan was denied entry to Latvia at the Terekhova, Grebneva, Pāternieku and Riga Airport border control points because the foreigners did not have a valid visa or residence permit, 16 Moldovan citizens because the foreigners could not justify the purpose of entry and stay, two Ukrainian citizens because the foreigners did not have valid travel documents document. Three more Ukrainian citizens were denied entry to Latvia due to security reasons. Persons returned to the country of departure.
- Seven foreigners were found to have violated the conditions of stay
Seven Uzbek citizens who had violated the conditions of stay (no valid visa or residence permit) in the countries of the Schengen area were detected at the border control point of the “Riga” airport. Persons brought to administrative responsibility.
Carrying out immigration control measures within the countryviolations of the rules of entry or stay were found for four persons – two citizens of Uzbekistan, one citizen of Russia and one citizen of Latvia.
