Starting the rainy season, Semarang City Health Office Reminds Residents to Beware of Dengue Fever

TRIBUNJATENG.COM, SEMARANG – The Semarang City Health Office (Dinkes) reminded residents to be aware of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). The disease is prone to appear during the rainy season.

The head of the Semarang City Health Office, Moh Abdul Hakam, said that the number of dengue cases at the beginning of the rainy season was not yet high.

However, it needs to be watched out for. He noted, there were 28 cases of dengue fever last September, with details of 19 male patients and 9 female patients.

In October, there were 18 cases of dengue fever, namely 11 male patients and 7 female patients.

“If there is a transition period like this, we have to watch out for dengue fever. So far, the case is still on a good track record, not high,” said Hakam, Sunday (11/7/2021).

Together with cross-sectors including sub-districts and sub-districts, he tries to remind the whole community to prioritize a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS). He invited the public to carry out mosquito larvae eradication (PJN) and community service to clean the surrounding environment every Friday or Sunday. This is so that the environment does not become a breeding ground for mosquitoes during the rainy season.

“We educate the public because there are quite a lot of diseases that can appear during the rainy season, dengue, malaria, leptospirosis. We invite them to PHBS to find out the risk factors,” said Hakam. (*)
