Oldenburg. Dreary and sometimes uncomfortable, but the cold season in Oldenburg also has its beautiful sides: for example the culinary festival “Hello Kale”. At the start of the season on November 3rd there will again be kale in all variations on long tables and a supporting program at the Oldenburg town hall market. Oldenburg city center will be transformed into a paradise for kale lovers this Sunday! Oldenburg Tourismus und Marketing GmbH (OTM) invites you to “Hello Kale”. Guests can expect a large selection of kale creations, paired with exciting information about the cult vegetable. The shops also open for shopping on Sundays from 1 p.m.
Culinary diversity – from traditional to innovative
This year, 15 companies are presenting their very own interpretation of the green superfood. Whether home cooking, vegan dishes, kale burgers or even smoothies and sushi – there is something for every taste. Unusual moments of enjoyment are also catered for: kale gin with and without alcohol, prepared as a cocktail or as Grüner Anton, the beer with kale from the OLs brewery.
More than just a culinary experience
In addition to the culinary offerings, Hello Kale also offers interesting facts about kale. The Botanical Garden provides information about a new project for organic kale cultivation and the OLantis Huntebad presents special kale wellness products. Kale souvenirs, a free photo box and a small but nice supporting program round off Kale Sunday. The Oldenburg Shanty Choir provides the best entertainment with sea shanties, shanties and humorous Döntjes. Moderator Roland Kanwicher will lead the afternoon. Guests can also expect an exciting kale bingo with attractive winning opportunities.

Kale Barometer: Enjoy for a good cause
The Oldenburg Kale Barometer also starts with the start of the kale season. With every portion of kale, visitors support the “Kältebus Oldenburg” project run by Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe eV – simply by placing their portion on the website gruenkohlbarometer-oldenburg.de register.
Kohl & Kultur – tradition meets zeitgeist: new group offer in Oldenburg
Oldenburg Tourismus und Marketing GmbH (OTM) is expanding its range of city tours with a special offer: The new “Kohl & Kultur” tour offers groups the opportunity to experience the traditional world of kale in an entertaining and informative way. Under the motto “Tradition meets Zeitgeist”, groups of 6 to 20 people can take a unique journey through the history and culture of cabbage trips and kale in Oldenburg from October.
The tour provides insights into the regional kale culture and, in addition to exciting information, offers participants the opportunity to get to know and sometimes try special regional products. Interactive elements such as games and shared activities ensure an unforgettable experience. A special highlight is trying out cabbage driving games, which require team spirit and skill.
The offer is ideal for groups who are looking for an entertaining and authentic experience and enjoy engaging with the culture surrounding Oldenburg’s “green gold”.
