Bank Indonesia (BI) adjusts the cash withdrawal limit at ATM using chip technology from a maximum of Rp. 15 million per day to Rp. 20 million. This policy will take effect on 12 July 2021 until 30 September 2021.
Head of the BI Communications Department Erwin Haryono said the changes were made to support the policy for the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in order to reduce the rate of COVID-19.
“BI raised the maximum limit for cash withdrawals through ATM machines from Rp. 15 million to Rp. 20 million per account in one day for ATM cards that use chip technology,” he said in an official release, Thursday (8/7).
Erwin said the increase in the maximum limit for ATM card cash withdrawals only applies to ATM machines with chip technology.
Therefore, BI urges banks to publish to the public a list of ATM locations that can make cash withdrawals with new limits.
He also reminded banks and other stakeholders to continue to maintain and carry out the sustainable implementation of tasks and safe public services.
“BI invites the public to always implement health protocols by enforcing the 6M, namely wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining distance, staying away from crowds, limiting mobility, and avoiding eating together,” he concluded.
