Semarang, CNN Indonesia —
Cases of transmission of the corona virus (Covid-19) of Central Java extended to a number of districts from its origin in Brebes and Kudus.
Currently, at least 8 regencies and cities are now declared red zone status along with the addition of high and fast positive numbers of Covid-19 as of Monday (7/6). The eight areas are Kudus, Jepara, Pati, Demak, Grobogan, Sragen, Brebes, and Tegal.
Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said the spread of covid cases in several areas in the province could not be separated from the spike in cases in Kudus and Brebes which later spread to several areas around each.
“The Brebes have spread to Tegal Regency, then the Holy one has spread too. Now, the Holy one has spread to one group. So, it seems that it was confirmed in Jepara, Pati, Demak, Grobogan to Sragen,” Ganjar said after holding a coordination meeting on the handling of Covid-19 with Regional Heads throughout Central Java at his office, Semarang, Monday afternoon.
With the contagion, Ganjar also asked regional heads in Rembang, Blora, Boyolali, Solo, and Semarang to get ready to face a surge in Covid-19 cases. He also emphasized that the main priority that must be prepared is health facilities such as the availability of capacity in hospitals, ICU rooms, and isolation places.
“So it means Rembang, Blora are getting ready, then Semarang City is certain, Boyolali is ready until later in Solo and Karanganyar. So I ask my friends in the City Regency to prepare additional beds for ICU hospital isolation , centralized isolation, yes, we ask them to prepare everything and we prepare them toback up“, said Ganjar.
As an anticipatory measure, Ganjar has asked Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin for additional vaccines to be able to provide 25 thousand doses of vaccine for each Regency-City which is now a red zone status.
The spike in Covid-19 cases in Central Java started from Kudus Regency, which after Lebaran or Eid 1442 H experienced a three-fold increase in daily cases, and in a week it reached 1000 cases. This condition finally made it difficult for all hospitals in Kudus to accept Covid-19 patients, so they were forced to refer them to Semarang and Salatiga.
