What is a Cruise Missile?
Cruise missiles are guided missiles that make them extremely precise at targets hundreds or even thousands of miles away.
Modern cruise missiles are self-navigating and capable of traveling at subsonic, supersonic or even hypersonic speeds.

However, most travel below the speed of sound at 450-650mph, and they also fly at low altitudes.
This means they are slower than ballistic missiles, but because they are smaller and fly closer to the earth’s surface. They are also harder to intercept and easier to navigate.
