On September 1, more than 35,000 new trainees in Baden-Württemberg are expected to start training in business, retail, hotels and restaurants and service companies.
As of July 31, there was already an average increase of 2.8 percent to 29,131 new training contracts in the IHK professions (trade, industry, services) compared to the previous year’s reference date, and more are expected on 35,000 new contracts before the start. of September. Electrical engineering professions, among others, contribute to the growth of the country; the number of new contracts rose from 3,746 (July 31, 2023) to 3,846 (July 31, 2024), an increase of 2.7 percent. Within this professional group, electronic technicians increased in particular with their various specialized fields (an increase of 10.1 percent from 1,338 to 1,472). The country’s hotel and catering industry is growing at a higher than average rate of 9.1 percent compared to the previous year the number of recently completed training contracts rose from 1,973 ( 2023) to 2,152 (2024). The numbers in the banking industry have developed particularly positively, the increase from 1,151 new contracts (July 31, 2023) to 1,417 new contracts (July 31, 2024) represents a significant increase of 23.1 percent .
However, several training positions remain unfilled across the country, the employment agency said on 31 July. For Baden-Württemberg there are still 31,757 unfilled apprenticeship positions (from all economic sectors (ie IHK, trades and freelance professions), compared to 14,646 unfilled applicants).
