On Monday, the citizens’ list “Corruption-free Graz” (KFG) started a petition on Graz’s main square. The focus is on the renovation and expansion of Graz’s dog parks.

“The creation of new, appropriate exercise areas for dogs in urban areas is essential, but the existing dog parks in Graz also need to be adapted immediately. Since the responsible deputy mayor, Judith Schwentner, and the city hall coalition have obviously shown no interest in expanding or improving the area since they took office, we would like to increase the pressure with this petition!” explains the responsible Animal Welfare Councillor Claudia Schönbacher.

Expansion of Graz’s dog parks: This is what is specifically demanded
There are a total of 17 dog parks in the city of Graz – but there are no dog parks in five districts (Inner City, St. Leonhard, Ries, Mariatrost and Andritz). In addition, as is becoming clear again now in summer, there is a need for cooling off opportunities for four-legged friends. The following 5 points are therefore being called for by petition: the construction of at least one dog park per district of Graz, the renovation and modernization of the existing dog parks, the expansion of the existing dog parks (locks, agility equipment and much more), the implementation of four dog bathing zones (in the north, east, south and west) and the introduction of temporary dog free-running zones.
