Mosbach. From December 2nd, the Mosbach Regional Court will process all new entries in civil matters – with the exception of a few complaint procedures – exclusively paperless with an electronic file. The court processes documents from attorneys in electronic form digitally and takes them directly to the electronic file.
For a transitional period until the end of 2021, legal documents will still be accepted in paper form and scanned at the court. From 2022 lawyers and authorities will be legally obliged to communicate electronically with the court. Citizens will still have the choice of sending their letters to the court electronically or in writing.
Employees trained
The Mosbach Regional Court is well prepared for the electronic file: large screens are installed in the conference rooms on which the judges can display documents. The employees dealing with civil matters are trained and all workstations are equipped with two flat screens. The court has also put high-performance scanners into operation. The electronic file will change the day-to-day work in court significantly and bring some challenges with it.
Above all, however, it offers great advantages. In the future, several judges, judicial officers and service staff from a panel will be able to work on a file at the same time – even if the file has just been sent to an expert or a lawyer is inspecting the file. Submissions can be searched and structured electronically.
In addition, working in the home office is made easier, as there is no longer any need to transport heavy mountains of files home. Especially in times of Corona restrictions, this ensures the Mosbach judiciary’s ability to work.
The paper files traditionally tied with the “Baden filing string” do not disappear from the courtrooms immediately. Because civil proceedings that are already ongoing will be continued in paper form until they are concluded. In criminal matters, too, the previous file management will initially be retained.
