Originally would have Wonder Woman 1984 should start in Swiss cinemas shortly before Christmas. We know what happened next: the cinemas had to close again and Warner Bros. Switzerland decided to postpone the start indefinitely. There was no start as a stream, as was the case with HBO Max in the USA, in Switzerland. That is changing now.
As Sky Show writes in a press release, will Wonder Woman 1984 can be seen exclusively on Sky Show on March 8th. The best thing about it: You don’t have to pay extra for the film! Anyone with the Sky Show subscription, which currently costs CHF 14.90 per month, can simply watch the film. A little tip: Sky Show offers a trial period in which you can test the subscription for seven days for free.
This means that the film will have an exclusive streaming premiere in Switzerland, because there is still no new cinema release. In the official starting list for Warner films in Switzerland, the film is currently not listed for 2021. As soon as the cinemas finally open again, Warner will probably announce a new theatrical release fairly quickly.
Sky has had an exclusive partnership with Warner Media for several years, which includes the Warner Bros. film studio and HBO. So it seemed very obvious that Wonder Woman 1984 will be seen on Sky Show. It is a bit surprising that it will now be an exclusive premiere. This naturally begs the question of what the future Warner films will look like, which will be released in the US at the same time as the HBO Max cinema release. Warner Bros. Switzerland said last year that the films in Switzerland would not start in parallel as a stream. However, that will depend a lot on how the cinema situation develops.
The next big movie to hit the US on HBO Max is Zack Snyder’s version of Justice League. This should appear worldwide on March 18, 2021. Although there is still no official announcement for Switzerland, a start on Sky Show is of course obvious. We have checked with the streaming service and will update this post as soon as we know more.
