Star’s bold “entertainment” plea in an effort to get more female tests

Column: I’m pretty excited at best, but what’s the volume in women’s sports right now?

It’s like every code has its own female sporting moment, but it makes me think about how cricket can speed things up and I’d like to see more investment in the longer format of the game.

I’ll say it bluntly, we all want to play more tests but – and I’m not sure how popular that will make me – but it’s up to us players to force a result.

As a spectator, I totally agree that you have to play for a result even at the risk of losing a match.

Sitting down during a match and blocking half-volley is not the solution to putting your butt on the seats.

I went to the North Sydney Test match the day Pez (Ellyse Perry) reached the highest score of an Australian woman, 213 not eliminated.

And while it was great to see Pez reach a double century, there were times in the game where Rach Haynes and Pez were in the middle, and I’m not casting a shadow on them, it was hard to watch as a cricket fan.

And I am a cricket fan.

While we love to play, there is definitely an argument that we’re also in the entertainment world and if we want to capture a wider audience, we should be well … fun.

As a spectator, I want to see a result: I don’t want to see players blocking to draw.

If we get the crowd, I think broadcasters will get on board too. Of course, there are logistical problems, for example, do we have the availability on the pitch for women to play more Test cricket?

I am looking forward to the multi-format series against India which now includes a test and I think the exciting results in the test arena will keep people away from the shorter format of the game.

Broadcasters can add microphones and cameras, but there isn’t much you can do about broadcast and media without players providing a good contest, this is the space we control.

Overall, I think our code is the best in the market for promoting the product and our athletes and generating coverage for our sport – the Commonwealth Games have promoted us to a completely different audience.

I love the way our game continually tries to innovate and now there is talk of broadcasters installing cameras in the locker room, as seen in NRL and AFL, but I’m not sure where I am. .

She flew to the wall, but I don’t know how they intend to use the images. Let’s say that hypothetically Midge (Alyssa Healy) goes out and throws her tampons in the locker room, I would be sorry if they got in while the # 1 batter. 4 is out.

Or Pez gets his ankle bandaged and the commentators talk about it for four overs instead of the exciting cricket that is played, but what I really like is that we are trying to evolve all the time.
