STARNAUT: New Roguelike Action Game by Developer Crim Available for Early Access on PC (Steam) from February 14th

Developer crim announced on January 31st the roguelike action game “STARNAUT‘ has been announced. The compatible platform for this work is PC (Steam), and early access distribution is scheduled to start on February 14th. The regular price is scheduled to be 830 yen, but it is expected to be sold at 498 yen, 40% off, as a release sale. A soundtrack containing 10 in-game songs will also be released.

“STARNAUT” is a roguelike action game set in the multiverse. In order to revive the annihilated human race, the player, as an astronaut Starnote, aims to launch an Omega rocket filled with Earth creation data.

In this game, your goal is to annihilate enemies that invade from the multiverse. It seems that the game progresses “almost” using automatic attacks, a system reminiscent of “Vampire Survivors,” where you scatter hordes with automatic attacks. On the other hand, if you are confident in your skills, you can also switch to sniper mode (TPS mode). It is said that one play can be completed in less than 30 minutes, and the appeal is that you can play the game using your free time.

In this game, you can equip up to eight types of weapons, and you can purchase and power up these weapons with the coins you get by defeating enemies. It is also possible to strengthen the space suit itself and purchase a new helmet. To clear the stage, you must launch 10 Omega rockets and escape. Each rocket also carries oxygen, which needs to be replenished periodically. Oxygen management also seems to be an important factor.

Another element is that in each stage there are enemies running around with “lost data”, which can be collected by defeating them with a punch. The stages have gimmicks such as gacha-gacha capsules, jump pads, and hot springs, and you can use these to your advantage in battle. In the released trailer, Starnote can be seen running around on squid-like tentacles and around artificial satellites, giving a glimpse of a variety of stages.

Crim, the company behind this work, is a studio headed by game creator Sawaki Takeyasu. He has worked on numerous works for Capcom and other companies, and is also known for his work on El Shaddai. The HD remastered version of the same work is currently on sale for PC (Steam), and the Nintendo Switch version is scheduled to be released on April 28th.

“STARNAUT” is a completely new work by Mr. Takeyasu. The early access distribution period is expected to be at least one year. It is expected that 5 types of main stages and 5 types of sub stages will be implemented at the start of early access distribution. There will be over 15 types of weapons and over 100 types of enemies. It seems that the plan is to add new content and adjust the balance of the game through early access distribution.

“STARNAUT” is available on PC (Steam) will be released in early access on February 14th.
