Starfield Update 1.9.67: Bethesda Adds Support for FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 and Intel XeSS

Bethesda has released a new update for space RPG Starfield. The game will therefore receive support for AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 technology and Intel XeSS. These techniques were previously available in a beta version of the game.

The additions are part of Starfield update 1.9.67, Bethesda writes in a blog post. This update can be downloaded immediately. Support for FSR3 and XeSS are the biggest changes brought about by the update. Bethesda previously said that Starfield would receive support for these technologies in ‘early 2024’, but did not previously share a release date.

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 is based on AMD’s FSR2 upscaling technique, which renders a game at a lower resolution and then scales it up for higher frame rates. Version 3 adds frame generation, where extra frames are interpolated between two ‘normal’ frames, just like Nvidia’s DLSS 3 technology. Intel XeSS is also an upscaling technique, but does not support frame generation.

The update also fixes an issue with Nvidia’s DLSS upscaling technique that caused clouds to appear to vibrate when DLSS was used. The patch also implements some other bug fixes.
