Yesterday we got a new trailer and then a detailed presentation of Bethesda’s space RPG Starfield. And since the game is really coming, they appeared on Steam System Requirements.
As for the minimum ones, you’ll need at least a Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel Core i7-6800K processor, 16 GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 5700 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card.
To meet the recommended requirements, you need an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel Core i5-10600K processor, again 16 GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT or Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card. What resolution and frame-rate should we expect with such a setup, unfortunately, the table does not mention
By far the most interesting information is the fact that the file size does not only say that the game takes up a relatively large chunk of storage in the form of 125 GB, but above all the fact that an SSD is literally required, even for the minimum requirements. Of course, we still don’t know if the game will run on the HDD at all, but the word “required” is certainly not for nothing.
In recent years, we’ve gotten used to the fact that an SSD is always at least recommended, but this is perhaps the first title for which it is absolutely necessary. However, it is quite logical, as it is a title designed purely for the current generation of consoles, which can already benefit from a fast disk, and thus games are slowly starting to be optimized only for them.
Starfield will be released on September 6 on PC and Xbox Series X|S. You can pre-order the game herewill be available on Game Pass on release day.
