Bethesda has released the third video in the Into the Starfield series. This time the sound plays the music.
The video for the “fourth dimension”
In keeping with the title, “The Sound of Adventure,” Audio Director Mark Lampert and Starfield Composer Inon Zur share their thoughts on what Starfield’s music means to them and why sound design is important to the overall gaming experience.
“I always say that music is the fourth dimension. It’s the emotional dimension,” explains Zur at the beginning of the video. “To create it, you have to ask yourself these questions: Where do you want to go? What is your motivation? What is your story? What really drives us?”
These questions are as big as the world space and would always push the developers to work on the game.
Lampert also underscores the importance of tone: the main theme sets the tone for everything else we do.”
New concept art was also shown in the video, giving us a little taste of the wide world of space RPG and helping the developers compose the music.
“There’s always this urge to go home… we want to complete our mission; we want to complete our journey,” says Zur, explaining that he was inspired by some of the images for the game.

Zur wanted to create a “circular” movement with the music, which should combine the feeling of going out with coming home. After an adventure, the goal is always the completion of the goal, which should also be reflected in the music.
For different parts of the world the composer used different parts of the orchestra. The woodwind stand for particles in space, the long chords of the strings make the waves of space audible. Brass is a kind of beacon that calls the player to him.
Starfield is expected to be released on November 11th for PC and Xbox.
