Starfield: Ship theft can be solved, Bethesda doesn’t forget about modders either

Bethesda Game Studios (BGS) also wants modders to be able to deal with the game, which Todd Howard promises for a long time.

Howard IGNWe already started explaining his interview yesterday, but there is still something to mention about it. According to the iconic developer of BGS, they want to make the space battles in Starfield unique. The studio is a fan of many space simulators. Our spaceship will have multiple systems, so there’s also a small FTL in how much power we can pour into the three different armed systems and then the systems responsible for armor and engine. We can use the gravity drive to jump out of some dangerous situations by jumping, but we also need to put effort into it.

The pace of space battles, according to Howard, was kept relatively slow. One example he raised is MechWarrior because of its systems and use of power. Starfield will be a little faster than that, but it won’t be as hyper-flexible and fast-paced. In addition to fighting, other ships can be landed, disarmed, and there are related missions, but it will also be possible to steal ships. There will also be dialogues in space, we can visit space stations, we can smuggle. There are things that will only be introduced later by BGS, but Howard says a significant portion of the gameplay will be fun when you look around the genre and sci-fi style.

Starfield’s main storyline will be bigger than both The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrime and Fallout 4. Howard tells him about 40 hours. This has been a bit longer than what BGS usually aims for, but they can still tune in to this and add more missions to the game, making it a 20% longer game than their previous games. The duration can vary because not everyone sticks mostly to the main story, so say forty hours if 25-30 hours were assigned in the previous two games. There are more quests and factions, so we can spend more time with Skyrim.

Howard added that they have learned over time that people play with their games for a very long time. So is Skyrim, but this hasn’t been played continuously over the last ten years either, but they have been dealing with interruptions and still having new content. Extra content will also be made for Starfield, and BGS loves the modding community. That’s why he believes Starfield will be a dream project for modders because they will have so many options. (Only then don’t spoil this with the Creation Club.)

Starfield will arrive on the Xbox Series and PC in the first half of 2023, and the Xbox Passon will also be there.
