Starfield fans are mourning the missed release date

Yesterday was the original Starfield release date and fans decided to mourn the day that could have been.

At E3 2021 – shortly after the Washington Post leak, as you recall – Bethesda revealed that Starfield was due to release on November 11, 2022. However, in May 2022, the publisher announced that both Starfield and Redfall had been delayed until the first half of 2023. None of the games have received a specific new release date yet.

Now that it’s November 11, 2022, Starfield fans are taking advantage of the date on the Starfield subreddit. They invent alternate universes where the game has already been released, launch new playthroughs of Oblivion, and share themes from the original game announcement. They display amazing fan art. They also display some less incredible fan art, although honestly, for MS Paint, it’s still impressive.

But what I love the most is the Starfield review thread, where users post fake reviews from critics like it’s launch day. “I found it strange that the game turned out to be a sophisticated ploy to sell me Skyrim again. But I still enjoyed it” – 8/10. “I loved it when John Starfield said ‘Time to get in the game’ and flew to the stars” – 9.5/10.

You need a few more journalistic clichés for your fake reviews. Start by talking about something that happened in the game that no one but you cares about. Complain that the game is too difficult. Grab some quotes from other Reddit posts to increase your word count. For true retrospective, he calls the game a “mixed bag” despite its “visceral” combat.

Seriously, fans have generally enjoyed Starfield’s delay. “I would like everything to go according to the ideal scenario, and this game would not lag, and would I play it now?”. asks Dennis_The_Menace_. “Of course. Am I also happy that this game doesn’t come out broken, buggy like so many other games in today’s gaming world? Yes, too.”

Well, let’s not assume it won’t be a “broken, buggy mess” – after all, Cyberpunk 2077 has also been delayed several times. Here’s hoping Bethesda can get Starfield to a solid landing no matter what.
