Starfield enthusiast under the nickname knaivey shared in the community the designs of two of his starships, inspired by the Dune universe.
The first ship was named Shai-Hulud, the Cosmic Sandworm. The gamer wanted to recreate the shape of a worm crawling out of the sands of the planet Arrakis. The result is a terrifying spaceship – especially when it “sits” on the surface, like a giant mouth, ready to attack.
The second ship is an attempt to recreate the Ornithopter. Ornithopters in the Dune universe are flying machines that use wings to fly. U/knaivey tried to transfer their concept into the world of Starfield as accurately as possible.
It didn’t turn out perfect, but it was also a good try, especially since the ship editor in Starfield has various limitations. Let’s hope that modders will expand its functionality after the release of the toolkit, so that more variety can be introduced and custom components can be added more easily.
Well, it would be nice to see Arrakis from modders, with full-size worms.
Meanwhile, it won’t be long before the release of Dune 2. Premiere in early March.
