Stardew Valley sets popularity record after 1.5 patch

Farming RPG Stardew Valley has set a new record for activity on Steam. On the evening of January 1, 93,466 players were simultaneously playing. This is an impressive feat considering the project turns five years old next month.

The renaissance is associated with the release of patch 1.5., Which is the largest update to date. Before that, the record for activity was 64,427 players almost immediately after the release in 2016.

Patch 1.5 was released on December 21st. The update introduces a new region, split-screen local co-op mode, improved farm management and house modifications, and added an extended options menu to allow customization of many elements of the world. In addition, new animals, enemies, adventures, plants and items have been implemented.
