Star Wars The Ascension of Skywalker: The Return of Kylo Ren’s Helmet, the Biggest Inconsistency with The Last Jedi?

For fans of Star Wars, L’Ascension de Skywalker, is nothing other than a succession of inconsistencies! JJ Abrams did everything to deconstruct the episode directed by his predecessor, Rian Johnson, and he succeeded. Whether it’s the start of the romance between Finn and Rey, the revelation about the heroine’s parents, this scene of Last Jedi ruined or destruction of Kylo Ren’s helmet, he dismantled each element put in place by his colleague. And this last act is probably the most illogical! After he emerged from the shadow of his grandfather Darth Vader by destroying his mask in a fit of rage, it was anything but relevant to bring Ben Solo back into his grip in episode 9. Indeed, this iconic accessory has become a reflection of his inner torment from its appearance in The force awakens.

But the sinister aura of mystery he created around Kylo Ren has gradually become outdated in The Last Jedi, which offered spectators a dive into the soul of the villain. Thanks to his relationship with Rey, we learned more about his personal heartbreak, and his ongoing struggle between Good and Evil. While in the first episode, he wanted to close the door to the bright side of the Force through his mask, in the following, his link with the heroine forced him to reconsider his position and to open. The spectators felt closer to him after he “got naked” … Alas, handing him his helmet, L’Ascension de Skywalker canceled the narrative evolution of the character. A narrative inconsistency symptomatic of a deterioration in the quality of Star Wars, which resulted in a Oscar Isaac clash, which denied a potential return to the saga!
