Star Wars Outlaws: Director disappointed by Metacritic rating

Creative Director Julian Gerighty is disappointed by the mixed Metacritic rating for Star Wars Outlaws.

Last week, Ubisoft released the open-world action-adventure Star Wars Outlaws for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC. But despite great confidence, launch sales fell short of internal expectations and Ubisoft shares plummeted to a 10-year low.

The reviews by the specialist press also did not go quite as well as hoped. Star Wars Outlaws is currently ranked Metacritic after 81 reviews with an overall rating of 76 – Disappointing for Creative Director Julian Gerighty, as he said in an interview with GamesRadar admits:

“I’m a little disappointed with Metacritic. Of course, the recognition of the press and critics is very important to us, but the players are really connected to what we have done.”

Despite the mixed response, there is a sense of pride, joy and success at Massive Entertainment, says Gerighty. For the future, the creative director promises years of support and improvements:

“It has brought me so much joy to see the incredible images that have been captured and shared. And I think that’s proof that this is an experience like no other Star Wars experience before, allowing you to enter this world and enjoy a little bit of virtual tourism.”

“This is going to be a game that millions of people will play for years to come, and we’ll never stop improving it. Well, that’s a lie. [Lacht] We’ll probably stop improving it, but today I’m not thinking about stopping improving.”
