When physical sales dates for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor arrived, it was revealed that the game had a strong opening, but not on the same level as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. This led many to believe that the first title, while still successful, commercially surpassed the sequel. Apparently that would be wrong.
Gamesindustry.biz’ Christopher Dring revealed some additional information about the launch of Survivor’s on Twitter, and here we’re told that Survivor actually outperformed Fallen Order by about 30% and that’s because digital sales were significantly higher this time around.
So while Survivor’s physical sales lagged behind Fallen Order, digital sales were so much higher that the game had a much bigger launch than its predecessor.
This is pretty much what we would expect in this era of gaming as physical sales have across the board declined over the years while consumers are now gravitating towards digital copies of games.
