What is the Star Wars saga about?
The Star Wars saga, created by George Lucas, began on May 25, 1977, when the first movie hit theaters. 41 years after that premiere, the franchise is one of the most profitable in the world of cinema (in movies alone, it generated more than 5 billion dollars at the box office).
Lucas admitted that the saga had the imprint of several literary and cinematographic genres such as the western, Flash Gordon, and films such as “The Hidden Fortress” and “The Seven Samurai” by filmmaker Akira Kurosawa. The story that unfolds inspired by the path of the hero, raised by Joseph Campbell in his book “The Hero with a Thousand Faces”, of which George Lucas was a fan.
The saga captured entire generations, be it with the filmography -11 films and one more scheduled to be released in 2023- plus everything generated by the “expanded universe”, which are the stories that emerge from the plots within Star Wars, and that fans consume series, movies, specials, novels and comics.
