Star Wars from Ubisoft has undergone a major development change

Ubisoft Next open world game Set in the Star Wars universe, she is now facing a very big change in development at Massive Entertainment, the studio working on the project. A key figure in the company recently revealed that he is leaving Massive to work elsewhere within Ubisoft. And while it’s uncertain how this will directly affect the Star Wars project, from the outside it looks like a pretty big change.

detailed in file Article It was revealed on the Massive Entertainment website that Managing Director David Polfeldt is now taking on other challenges at Ubisoft. Polfeldt has been with Massive since 2005 and has served as the studio’s director for the past 12 years since being selected by Ubisoft. Polfeldt will privately retire from this position on July 1, taking six months off work before returning to Ubisoft to work “in a new strategic role.”

While this may seem like a cause for concern when it comes to the company’s Star Wars title, Polfeldt has actually been anything but caution. He even specifically pointed out that acquiring the rights to work on Star Wars, in part, resulted in him stepping down that way. “As we drew Star Wars and finally completed our beautiful Eden building in 2020, I felt an overwhelming sense of completion, as if I had achieved everything I had ever dreamed of,” Polfeldt said in an accompanying statement. “The studio is built on the solid foundation of The Division, Avatar, Snowdrop and Ubisoft Connect and is in great shape, and I am so grateful for what we accomplished together.”

At this point, there’s almost nothing we know about Ubisoft’s Star Wars beyond the idea that it will take place in an open world. With that in mind, we have no idea when it will be released. Since its development is still in its infancy, it looks like we won’t be seeing this title again in a few years. However, when it launches, you’re likely to bet it will make its way to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Does this change in development at Massive Entertainment raise any concerns about the future of this Star Wars title? Let me know in the comments or save me on Twitter Reliable.
