An attraction dedicated to “The Lion King” will soon be opening in Disneyland Paris… to the detriment of a Star Wars universe which notably included a roller coaster inspired by “The Mandalorian”.
“Hakuna, Matata, what a magnificent sentence”… and a future Disney attraction! This weekend was the D23 Convention, during which the Disney company announces its upcoming projects, shows trailers for upcoming films or series and the evolutions of the theme parks. And precisely, for the first time in its history, a Disney park will have an attraction entirely dedicated to the Lion King, and it will be… in France!
The Lion King is coming…
The park, which is divided into two parts, will evolve. “Disneyland”, intended for the youngest, remains Disneyland, and Walt Disney Studios will be renamed “Disney Adventure World” and will bring together the Avengers Campus (already built), a Frozen world (to come) and this new Lion King attraction called… Hakuna Matata!

It will be a water attraction telling the story of Simba, with a final dive from the iconic rock from the film, carved into a point, from which the famous lion cub is baptized at the beginning of the film. Mascots, a shop and a restaurant will complete the attraction.
…but devours Star Wars!
But this new Lion King area will replace the Star Wars area initially commissioned by Bob Iger in 2018. This project was supposed to contain, if rumors are to be believed, a roller coaster inspired by the Mandalorian series, which would have been a France exclusive. But this Star Wars world will not see the light of day soon.
Disneyland Paris canceling a future Star Wars world is likely a decision stemming from the declining reception of the franchise’s films in recent years, with a “postlogy” that has frustrated more than one fan and series that have not always been well received.
The arrival of a Lion King attraction will also accompany a new film currently in preparation dedicated to Mufasa, and retracing his entire story told by the monkey Rafiki to Kiara, the daughter of Nala and Simba. It will be released on December 18, and Disney is counting on it to give a new boost to the interest of the spectators for The Lion King, which has always been a sure value of the studio.
