Star Wars fans are eagerly awaiting Grand Admiral Thrawn’s live-action debut after Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) revealed she’s on the hunt for the villain in The Mandalorian Season 2. This is to be part of the plot of the “Ahsoka” spin-off, the second installment of the “Mandalorian” main series after “The Book of Boba Fett”. A villain actor has now been confirmed for Ahsoka: Ray Stevenson, who has starred in all three Marvel Thor films as the bearded warrior Volstagg. But Stevenson should probably not play Thrawn.

As The Hollywood Reporter reports, Ray Stevenson has been cast, but the role has not yet been officially announced. However, the well-connected industry newspaper claims to have learned that it will be a villain, even an admiral – just not Grand Admiral Thrawn.

The role of Thrawn has reportedly already been cast, as has that of young Jedi Ezra Bridger, who is also set to be part of the “Ahsoka” series. Thrawn will be played by Mads Mikkelsen’s (“Rogue One”) brother Lars Mikkelsen, while Ezra Bridger will be played by “Aladdin” star Mena Massoud. So far, however, both reports have not been officially confirmed, which means that there is still a possibility that they will turn out to be false.

Ray Stevenson already with “Rebels” and “Clone Wars”.

Ray Stevenson is not new to the Star Wars universe, he already has worked as a voice artist for the animated series “The Clone Wars” and “Rebels” and voiced the character Gar Saxon in them. Gar Saxon is a brutal and ruthless Mandalorian who first worked as a commander in Maul’s crime syndicate and then joined the Empire. It is theoretically It’s possible Stevenson will play that role, but Mandoverse creators Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are bringing many characters from the animated series over to their new real-world series, while retaining some of the cast — as in the case of Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze.

Warning, spoilers for the animated series: That’s highly unlikely though, since Gar Saxon died in Star Wars: Rebels, so there would have to be quite a few changes to bring him back. More likely, however, is that Stevenson will be playing a new character. Ray Stevenson joins previously confirmed actors Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka), Natasha Liu Bordizz (Sabine Wren), Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ivanna Sakhno in the Ahsoka series. Hayden Christensen is also said to have an appearance as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.
