Star Wars: 4 Reasons the Franchise Needs More Jedi Masters

Within the expansive war of stars Universe different species are trained to become Jedi Masters. But across the seemingly infinite universe, the films and spin-off series only offer glimpses of the 40 Jedi women. Additionally, only a handful of Jedi Knights attained the highest rank of Jedi Master and sat on the Jedi High Council. By comparison, the dominant Jedi Masters are men, or the men of their respective species. Of course, Jedi women like Rey and Ahsoka are powerful and fearless, but are often portrayed as only so far in their training. That they remain as knights is particularly archaic.

As the war of stars Saga continues, with doors open to introduce more female Jedi Masters. Even if the story follows a well-known Jedi Knight’s journey to mastery, it would be a more compelling story than that of Luke Skywalker coming out of retirement. A major reason for more female Jedi Masters is that more male Jedi Knights have been drawn to the dark side than their female counterparts. So far, the two women who could have become champions have either left or declined the training due to poor vision or a misalignment with the Jedi Order, which is a limiting act. Leia is one of the most powerful characters in the franchise, yet her connection to the Force has gone untapped. As such, here are four reasons why war of stars Franchise needs more Jedi Masters.
