“Star-Studded Coronation Concert and Festivities for King Charles III”

Celebrations on the occasion of the coronation of King Charles III continue on Sunday evening, May 7, with a star-studded concert at Windsor Castle, DPA reports. Street parties are also held across the UK as part of the coronation celebrations.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla will join around 20,000 members of the public at the Coronation Concert where, along with other members of the royal family, they will see performances by Take Death, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.

Singers Perry and Richie were among the stars at the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Saturday. Perry is an ambassador for the British Asian Trust, a charity founded by the king when he was still Prince of Wales.

Hosted by Paddington and Downton Manor actor Hugh Bonneville, the show in Windsor will feature Hollywood star Tom Cruise, Dynasty actress Lady Joan Collins, adventurer Bear Grylls and singer Sir Tom Jones via video message.

The series of pre-recorded skits will reveal little-known facts about the monarch and will also feature scenes with favorite literary figures – seemingly echoing the video of Paddington Bear having tea with Queen Elizabeth II during her platinum jubilee celebrations.

There will also be performances by Paloma Faith, Olly Murs, veteran rock guitarist Steve Winwood and Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls.

Classical artists will also perform, including Andrea Bocelli, Welsh bass-baritone Sir Bryn Tervel and Chinese pianist Lan Lan.

The Royal Ballet, The Royal Opera House, The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Royal College of Music and The Royal College of Art will join together for the first time to create a unique performance featuring Sex Education and Doctor Who star Nkuti Gatwa and award-nominated “Olivier” May Mack.

14 million watched the coronation on the BBC

More than 14 million viewers watched the coronation of King Charles III on BBC television, the corporation said. Saturday’s coronation – the first in 70 years – was only the second to be televised and the first to be shown in colour.

But figures show viewing figures were significantly lower than previous major royal events. Last year’s state funeral for Charles’ mother, Queen Elizabeth II, attracted one of the UK’s biggest television audiences. An estimated average audience was 26.2 million watching on TV alone, peaking at 28 million, including 18.5 million on the BBC.

In 2011, over 24 million viewers watched the wedding of Charles’ son Prince William on the BBC.

In 1997, over 32 million viewers in the UK watched the funeral of Princess Diana, Charles’ first wife and William’s mother. Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953 is considered a breakthrough in broadcasting and broadcasting as it was shown on television for the first time. Around 27 million people watched and 11 million listened to the radio service at the time, according to Buckingham Palace.

But television ownership was not widespread back then. The BBC was the only television station at the time. Since then, the media landscape has transformed with dozens more channels, as well as online, on-demand and streaming services.

Charles’ coronation was also broadcast live by the commercial channel ITV, which launched just two years after Elizabeth’s coronation, and others including Sky News. According to preliminary figures released on Sunday night by British audience research organization Barb, an average of 18.8 million people watched the 11 channels and services, with the number of viewers reaching 20.4 million when the king was crowned in the early afternoon.
