–The star photographer Peter Beard is dead. After being missing for around three weeks, his body was found in a nature park near Montauk on the eastern tip of the Long Island peninsula in New York, US media reported, citing the photographer’s family. “We are all heartbroken about the confirmation of the death of our beloved Peter,” said the family.
Beard, who turned 82, suffered from dementia, among other things. Born in New York in 1938 into a rich family, Beard primarily photographed the African fauna – and made portraits of stars like David Bowie, Mick Jagger or the model Iman. Beard was married three times and had a daughter.
