Despite the fact that all mechanics and content were completed last year at Squadron 42, it will not be until 2026 before we see a single-player version of Star Citizen available to gamers.
Cloud Imperium Games doesn’t seem to have any plans to rip any of the upcoming games. Star Citizen has been in development for at least 12 years. Squadron 42, which is the game’s single-player mode, is also taking a while to become available to those who want to play.
By 2023, CIG should have introduced the final mechanics and models to the game. Which gave many hopes for a launch in late 2024 or 2025 at worst. Now the developer has shared a great video of over an hour of gameplay(honestly, most of the video is cutscenes) from the game. In conjunction with the video released at CitizenCon 2954, it was also confirmed that Squadron 42 is expected to be ready for launch in 2026.
Despite the fact that the game itself was “finished” last year, tuning and bug fixes are on the schedule from the CIG staff in 2025. So players will have to wait at least another 14 months before we can maintain , for example, Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman and Henry Cavill
