Robert De Niro, Tommy Lee Jones and Morgan Freeman: Director and screenwriter George Gallo brings together three screen legends in front of the camera for the wonderfully wild comedy “Kings Of Hollywood” (OT: “The Comeback Trail”) and together they ignite a fireworks display of the screwball Comedy!

With his scripts for classic films such as “Bad Boys” and “Midnight Run”, Gallo has already proven his flair for weird situational comedy several times. Now in his new film he draws from a wealth of resources with a well-presented ensemble and pointed puns.

Zach Braff (“Wish I Was Here”, “Scrubs”) as Max’s nephew, Emile Hirsch (“Once Upon A Time In Hollywood”) as the successful young producer and Kate Katzman (“Walt Before Mickey “) As a tough director. The comedy is a cheerful declaration of love for the magic of big Hollywood cinema.

Instead of a glossy look handheld camera

Director George Gallo said, “While the movie is a comedy, I didn’t want it to be over-lit and have that glossy look that comedies sometimes give. If only because all the humor here is about a murder plot.

That’s why cameraman Lukasz Bielan and I came up with a darker, more realistic look to tell the story.

Using handheld cameras, we gave the scenes truthfulness, supported of course by the production designers Stephen Lineweaver and Joe Lemmon. We wanted to create a believable and somewhat shabby scenery for these figures that just shouldn’t look too smooth. “

The planned theatrical release is, if the pandemic allows, on March 4th.

This is what “Kings of Hollywood” is all about

The wounded film producer Max (Robert De Niro) has debts with the Mafia, but instead of paying them off, he persuades the godfather Reggie Fontaine (Morgan Freeman) to loan him money for another project. He agrees, after all, Max is planning insurance fraud on a large scale.

He signs the former western hero Duke Montana (Tommy Lee Jones) for a supposed comeback. In truth, however, he does everything in his power to kill the aged star during filming in order to get a hefty compensation from the insurance company.

But the old man turns out to be a tough dog who doesn’t even think about biting the grass.

Once in front of the camera, Montana really blossoms again. Max and his ally Walter Creason (Zach Braff) have to come up with breakneck stunts to bring Montana underground, or else they face the grudge of the Mafia. (PV)
