Stanisława Ryster died on March 27, 2024. She was an undisputed legend of TVP, a great journalist, and the game show she hosted, “Wielka gra”, was forever remembered by viewers. She was characterized by unique style, but also modesty. This was also her funeral. Just before her death, the TV star wished that her final journey would be made more pleasant by Frank Sinatra’s song “My Way”. Her daughter told her everything during her farewell speech.
“My mother mentioned many times that she would like this song to be played at her funeral, so that’s what happened. Besides, I think that the words of this song correspond very closely to my mother’s lifestyle. Mom lived her own way and lived the way she wanted. She was independent, self-sufficient,” said Stanisława Ryster’s daughter during the funeral ceremony at Stare Powązki.

She also added that her mother intended to leave on her own terms. She was aware of what was happening until the end: “She also made decisions herself. I can say that until the end, because even now, recently, she made the decision and signed a refusal to transport her to the hospital“She also requested an intimate funeral and cremation.

Stanisława Ryster was a person who loved life and people, and it was mutual. Marta Ryster spoke tenderly about what a wonderful person her beloved mother was.
“Mom loved life and knew how to enjoy all the little things. She was able to find something positive in everything, in every unpleasant situation. And I also remember this from my childhood. She tried to live by her favorite Latin saying, “carpe diem”, which means seize the day. Yes, that was how my mother tried to live, not to dwell on the past. No, she didn’t like dates. Therefore, here, on the tombstone I want to order, only the date of death will be written“.
In her speech at Stare Powązki, she also emphasized how much working on “The Great Game” meant to Stanisława Ryster. She had a whole group of admirers who stopped her on the street. My daughter remembers these moments with sympathy and nostalgia.
