/ world today news/ Stanislav Vladimirov, mayor of Pernik, BSP, in a conversation with Iliana Benovska in the weekly overview political show “Benovska pita” on “Radio K2” commented on the following topics:
The state of the BSP.
“Next Saturday, Kornelia Ninova convenes a present National Assembly, this is probably done under the pressure of people from the IB who asked her to resign, but she stated that she will not submit it because she was elected very soon, etc. In Pernik, plus the Plovdiv organization, maybe others, you stated clearly, precisely and slightly ironically that you did not want to participate in the context “remembered too late”, is that right?” asked the presenter Iliana Benovska. Stanislav Vladimirov answered that, unfortunately, the BSP is moving after the events, trying to adapt to what is happening, but awkwardly and ridiculously. “Nobody wants us anymore, we’re not even interesting to the audience, they don’t want to listen to us, whatever we say, it doesn’t make sense. The factors are already different and the processes in our country that will be set in motion are already outside the BSP! The strong position was for the chairman of the party to take personal responsibility, this was worthy both on a personal level and gave the BSP a chance to quickly get out of the heavy slap in the elections!”, the mayor of Pernik was emphatic. He added that, unfortunately, this did not happen, and the management’s explanations only arouse bewilderment and ridicule in the public. BSP is no longer a political factor.
“I’ve been hearing these things since Ninova’s first mandate, when it became clear that she figuratively “rode the black mare” of the BSP in her own interest, and not in the interest of leftist ideas. Those of you who show political common sense in the BSP are doubting that you can control the situation, the BSP seems to be running down the bobsled chute that Ninova has dug and will bring the sled to her house!”, noted the host Benovska. Stanislav Vladimirov replied that, unfortunately, Ninova’s cottage is no longer interesting to anyone. He continued that the introduction of direct election of the President was a mistake. He himself admitted that he made a mistake by supporting this change in the constitution, in the hope that this would be an additional impulse for the BSP, that the party would become more interesting and attractive to the audience. Unfortunately, the darkest predictions have come to pass, and Nineveh has not shown leadership. Vladimirov stated: “Leader means you really have to lead, the word leader means to make a lot of compromises, to swallow a lot of bitterness, the word leader is to be broad-minded, not narrow-minded. We haven’t seen anything like that in recent months. We missed the protests, we missed the energy, we missed the new needs of all the Bulgarians who took to the streets!”. He added that the crushing and neglect of structures and a clumsy platform filled with clichés led to the poor outcome of the election.
The presenter noted that the BSP had not had such a bad result at the national level for quite some time. Stanislav Vladimirov answered that since 2001 BSP has not been a third force. However, then the party was in a different condition with a different personnel potential, with many thinking party people who saw the danger.
What should the chairman of the BSP be like?
“What should the chairman of the BSP be like?” he asked Benovska. Stanislav Vladimirov replied that he understood leadership in a completely different way. According to him, the chairman must tolerate criticism, listen to different opinions, be much more broad-minded, be a visionary. He continued that the current leadership will continue to lead the party down the road. If BSP continues like this, the next elections will be a bigger disaster.
Is Vladimirov a contender for the post of chairman of the BSP?
„A little while ago I asked you to describe the qualities of a leader, did you describe yourself, Mr. Vladimirov?” asked the host Benovska. Stanislav Vladimirov answered: “I am the mayor of Pernik, I was elected with the huge support of the people of Pernik, I currently have the huge support of the people of Pernik, the expectations for me are very high and I will fulfill this commitment!”.
„Say it clearly – can you become the leader of the BSP, do they want you, do they invite you?” asked presenter Iliana Benovska. Stanislav Vladimirov replied that at the moment he could not combine both positions. This is not on the agenda. However, he emphasized that he will support any young person who can lead the BSP through this situation. The mayor of Pernik stated: “The chairman’s line that the party cannot do without her at the moment – I think common sense has left our leadership! If a mid-level manager in any enterprise says that, he will be fired instantly!”.
“Is that Krum Zarkov?” he asked Benovska. Stanislav Vladimirov replied that Zarkov is one of the potential good leaders. There are others, but the mayor of Pernik did not want to cite names because he fears that these people will be crushed by the leadership of the BSP, who use “trolls” and statements of people outside the party to do this.
“But why do you like Krum Zarkov, he was so loyal to Ninova, and now he asked her to resign from the IB?” he asked Benovska. The interlocutor replied that Krum Zarkov is a thinking person who has already gained experience. He added “But let’s not make trouble for Krum Zarkov, because we see that the vindictiveness in the leadership has been extremely pronounced in recent months!”. According to him, Zarkov is a thinking person and it is normal to ask for Ninova’s resignation right now.
Sanitation in Pernik.
Stanislav Vladimirov stated that unfortunately the BSP ran away from this topic during the campaign and said that sanitation was a bad thing. In fact, this is one of the most left-wing policies that has happened in Bulgaria in recent years. Another question is how it is remediated, but to explain that the remediation is bad is inadequate. The mayor of Pernik stated that as far as he knows many of the political parties are ready to continue this program and he hopes that this will happen.
Stanislav Vladimirov explained that Pernik is one of the three municipalities in which huge funds will be directed under the “green deal”. Signals are being received from the EC that there will be allocated funds in this direction as well.
Could his working friendship with Borisov harm him?
„Aren’t you afraid that your working friendship with Boyko Borisov along with the water crisis and solving this problem can play a bad joke on you in two aspects, one is that without Borisov there is no one to help even with these funds the green deal” and if another cabinet is formed without Boyko Borisov, you may find revengers that you were close to him, work, I emphasize again, and not life?” Benovska asked. Stanislav Vladimirov stated that this is indeed an intra-party “gum”, but the leadership’s accusations that there are people inside the party who worked for its loss are truly ridiculous. He added: “If the intra-party opposition has the strength to overturn the result twice, then this leader must go!”.
The presenter stated that Georgi Gergov was also accused by Ninova of working against the party, and he simply called for national responsibility. Stanislav Vladimirov answered that in the entire campaign he did not hear a single word of self-criticism from the leadership. He went on to say that he joined the campaign despite the risk of being accused of using the mayoralty to do so. Benovska noted that Pernicus’ list included people brought down from Positano. The interlocutor replied that this is precisely why the third and fourth in the list have overtaken the second with preferences, because when you crush the local structure in a given region, it is normal to lose.
“If Ninova remains in charge, will they avenge you for working closely with Borisov?” he asked once more Benovska. Stanislav Vladimirov replied that his relationship with Borisov was really only a work one. He continued that we must have human relationships first. After that, we have to look for the dialogue between the political forces, because that is what the people expect. That’s why the lines to “collapse” or “destroy” something are not very appropriate. Politicians should look for the paths that unite them, not the dividing lines.
Can the National Assembly, convened for April 17, change something in the BSP?
Stanislav Vladimirov stated that he does not believe that there are enough strong forces in the National Council. He recalled that papers were exchanged in order to draw up a National Assembly convenient for the leadership and to throw out the critical mass. Therefore, he is not very optimistic. The mayor of Pernik said that he is hesitant to leave the National Assembly because it is no longer the old body where real debates take place. “So I hope that on Saturday there will be young people who really want to become politicians, to become leaders, who will show sense and see that the path that the BSP has taken does not lead to anything good!”, he was emphatic the mayor of Pernik. The presenter asked about the exact time of the plenary session. The interlocutor replied that he was not informed in any way about the time and place.
The problem with stray dogs in Pernik.
Stanislav Vladimirov stated that they have built a model that will give good results. The goal is a humane solution to the problem. There are almost no unneutered dogs left on the territory of the municipality. A high tax is also planned for people who have not neutered their pets and no tax for those who have neutered them. The shelter will expand. There are volunteers who will walk the dogs. Stanislav Vladimirov stated: “Pernik is one of the municipalities that will be set as an example for dealing with this problem in just a few years!”, with which he ended his conversation with Iliana Benovska in the program “Benovska Pita” on “Radio K2” from April 10, 2021.
